Lure length 48 mm / Body length 23 mm

The reason we chose to offer a "spinner" instead of the small spoons that have become the mainstream metal trout lure in recent years is because we often hear anglers say things like, "I like spinners because they catch a lot of fish, but the line twists..."
"The simple body design isn't enough..."
We also want to respond to those who say, "There aren't many that I really like."

We've created a fish body spinner called Niakis that addresses the weaknesses of spinners and has a unique shape not found in commercially available lures. It's also designed for ease of use, making it a Smith original.

Line twist has long been considered a drawback of spinners. While attaching a snap swivel or similar can largely solve this problem, it's undeniable that many anglers are put off by the added length of the snap swivel on the spinner itself, which can make the appearance unbalanced, and the ease of use puts them off.

However, a spinner's appeal to fish is largely due to the rotation of the braid, and this braid rotation is a major cause of line twist. The rotation of the braid also causes the body itself to rotate, which leads to line twist.

Niakis has developed a "rolling swivel integrated shaft" that incorporates a swivel structure into the shaft itself, and by using this, line twist has been significantly reduced.

Furthermore, with conventional spinners, the fact that the body is fixed to the shaft was also a cause of line twist, so by providing clearance between the body and the shaft, we have reduced the rotation of the shaft associated with the body.

The main body is not a cone or top-shaped type commonly seen in conventional products, but a realistic minnow body. It is not a round shape like other companies' products, but rather a thin, vertically elongated type with flat sides that creates a sparkling effect when action is applied. Whereas conventional products simply cause the blade to change rotation when action is applied, this produces a unique movement that is unlike anything else, with the body shimmering and fluttering.

In addition, the blade, which is the lifeblood of a spinner, has an excellent start-up rotation and will rotate accurately even with slight changes in reeling speed.

Many anglers using spinners have probably experienced the situation where a fish chased the bait while they were reeling it in, but then didn't bite. This happens because the spinner's movement can be surprisingly monotonous, with little variation other than the rotation of the blade, and the bait doesn't bite because it doesn't make the extra appeal.

With a Niakis, even in such situations, you can add action with the rod tip or try making the bait fall, and you're sure to get good results if you adapt the action to your own imagination.

We also deliberately used a split ring rather than setting the hook directly on the shaft. This is to accommodate cases where the hook needs to be changed based on individual angler preference or field regulations. Of course, it's also perfect for anglers who always pay close attention to the hook point.
