The Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) is an apex predator and the largest of the 270 or so species of Carcharhiniformes or ground sharks. Growing to around 800 kg and around 5 meters in length, this large shark feeds on fish, including other sharks, crustaceans, birds and even turtles. Found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world, it is a solitary hunter that feeds primarily at night. Due to its size, it is considered one of the most dangerous shark, but overfishing and pollution of its habitat threatens its future.
